On the last metres 2019 spoils us once again with a very special sense of achievement! With ioki Hamburg, yesterday we officially won the German Mobility Award given by the Federal Initiative “Land der Ideen” and the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). The award, presented by the Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer, honours digital innovations in the field of mobility.
During the award ceremony in Berlin, our CEO Michael Barillère-Scholz told a bit more about our LEVC shuttles, which have not only made their way into the hearts of passengers in Hamburg: “They are not just reminiscent of the London Black Cabs – they are exactly the same vehicles, but of course the emission-free version. We chose these vehicles because they are virtually the only ones on the market that meet the requirements we place on our ioki Hamburg shuttles: They are modern, emission-free, very spacious with six seats, and – and this is particularly important to us – accessible.”
With this almost everything important about ioki Hamburg has already been said: Together with our partner Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH (VHH), we are pursuing one goal above all else: creating sustainable, needs-based and flexible mobility – anytime, anywhere and for everyone.
Seamlessly integrated into the existing public transport system and the HVV tariff, we have already transported more than 270,000 passengers in the districts of Osdorf and Lurup since the start of the project in July 2018, circumnavigated the world twice with more than 1,200,000 zero-emission kilometres, and never left our passengers waiting for us at a stop for more than five minutes, true to the Hamburg timetable. We are delighted with 34,000 app downloads, a re-use rate of 87.3 percent and 250 tons of carbon dioxide saved.
Exactly these figures made the decision for Billbrook as a third service area easy for us. Because with over 50 percent of the passengers using ioki Hamburg as a feeder to the next public transport stop and thus as a bridge for the first and last mile, we are reaching exactly our ultimate goal: A strong public transport system for a green city!
We congratulate all the other winners of the German Mobility Award 2019 and are proud being able to join the ranks with such strong solutions for the mobility of the future.
A big thank you goes to all our partners, above all the VHH and the HVV, who played a decisive role in shaping our success with their participation in ioki Hamburg. We are looking forward to a common future – for more mobility and less traffic!
