Digitization offers important opportunities for sustainable mobility – ioki Mobility Network brings stakeholders together
The mobility of the future will be networked, shared, environmentally friendly and partly autonomous. Digitization is an essential prerequisite for this. The speakers and participants at the first ioki Mobility Network Symposium, which took place on 27 November in Berlin, agreed on this. Among the speakers at the network meeting were Dorothee Bär, Minister of State at the Federal Chancellery and Federal Government Commissioner for Digitization, Steffen Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, and Prof. Dr. Sabina Jeschke, Director of Digitization and Technology at Deutsche Bahn, who spoke about the opportunities of digitization for the mobility sector.
“We are now taking the opportunity to jointly shape the mobility of tomorrow. The great challenge we face is more mobility, but less traffic. In order to satisfy the needs of our customers, we need to rethink and redesign rural mobility and integrate digital services into cities,” said Michael Barillère-Scholz, CEO of ioki.
The ioki Mobility Network was created in order to be able to implement new mobility solutions across all industries. In this network, companies, cities, municipalities and transport companies work together to think about mobility in a new and holistic way: environmentally friendly, resource-saving and yet competitive. The special focus is on on-demand mobility and individual public transport.
Representatives from politics, industry and science discussed current topics of mobility: alternative technologies, Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and autonomous driving as important factors of the change of traffic. All experts agreed on one point: On the way to networked mobility, it is necessary to work together across industries and to fundamentally change attitudes towards individual transport – integrated into local public transport.
With ioki, Deutsche Bahn brings on-demand mobility and autonomous driving into public transport. ioki offers all services from a single source to enable cities or local authorities to operate on-demand mobility services in public transport under their own name.
