Since the beginning of February an on-demand service has been supplementing local public transport in the south-east Italian region of Molise. “On-demand” means “on call”, which means that the route is based on the passengers’ wishes. They can simply book the free minibuses via the Il Tuo Bus app or by phone. The new mobility service is a joint project between the local operator Sati Campobasso, Municipa S.r.l and ioki, the leading software provider for on-demand mobility in Europe.
Il Tuo Bus is the first of its kind in the Molise region and connects the four neighbouring municipalities of San Biase, Sant’Angelo Limosano, Limosano and Montagano. Residents benefit from a flexible, attractive public transport service and are not dependent on a private car. This is good for the environment and provides more mobility with less traffic, especially for older people.
The demand-responsive transport service can be booked daily, and, for additional planning security, pre-bookings are also possible until 5 p.m. the day before. Passengers can select their desired starting point and destination within the four municipalities. The app shows the time when the journey can take place. The innovative algorithm from ioki enables carpools to be formed that make optimum use of the vehicle’s capacity.
As a leading European technology company, ioki supports the mobility turn. In Italy, the service portfolio of ioki includes the on-demand transport services Stradibus together with ArrivaClickIT in the province of Cremona and Chiamabus together with Cotral SpA. in Monti Reatini and Valle del Comino.
Operating hours: monday – saturday // 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. & 2.30 – 5 p.m.
