Full speed ahead: Software provider ioki is expanding its on-demand technology to three more locations in Italy. The flexible services in Rome, Savona, and Brindisi will strengthen public transport in the country. ioki’s proprietary algorithm groups several ride requests into a single vehicle, creating an attractive alternative to both public transport and private cars. The company is providing both the passenger and driver apps, as well as dispatch software for operations.
Rome: Flexibility at your fingertips
In the Italian capital of Rome, the “Clicbus” service has been operational since 4 September 2024. Users can easily book the service from 5:30 am until just after midnight via the smartphone app powered by ioki. With a fleet of three vehicles, the on-demand service offers a quick, flexible, and comfortable alternative, available during a test phase until the end of October. This is an ideal solution for the bustling metropolis that is always on the move. ioki is working with partners Roma mobilità and ATAC to deliver this service.
Brindisi: As flexible as it gets
In Brindisi, one of southern Italy’s most important port cities, passengers use the “Call Bus STP” app developed by ioki. Since 9 September 2024, three vehicles have been in operation, serving different routes based on demand. With an 18-month trial period, this on-demand service offers a future-proof solution tailored to the mobility needs of the population — whether for commuters or tourists.
Savona: Shuttle service between mountain and sea
In the coastal city of Savona, beautifully situated between hills and the Mediterranean Sea, the “EASY BUS TPL” service will launch soon, bringing a breath of fresh air to the area. In partnership with the local transport company TPL Linea, ioki is introducing a new on-demand service. The three vehicles will connect rural regions with popular tourist hotspots, providing both locals and visitors with a flexible mobility solution, all easily accessible via the app. Operating daily from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, the service offers a smart alternative to traditional public transport, with an 18-month trial period.
ioki supports mobility transition in Italy
All three services utilise ioki’s on-demand technology for flexible booking and routing processes. But ioki’s reach doesn’t stop at Savona, Rome, and Brindisi. This autumn, ioki, in collaboration with Italian start-up Wayla, will launch a completely new mobility concept in Milan, paving the way for more smart and sustainable mobility solutions across Italy.
In 2024, Italy is set to embrace on-demand transport. In addition to the services in Brindisi, Savona, Rome, and Milan, residents in the Monti Reatini region and Campobasso will also benefit from on-demand transport, powered by ioki’s software.
